Frequently Asked Questions

Are my supplies (clay, etc.) included with the price of the sessions? Or do I have to buy them separately?

The cost of materials is included in the overall program. We will provide all of the materials necessary for learning.

Do programs cost different amounts or is it a set hourly price?

Our dyslexia and attention programs generally run for one week, while the math program generally runs for 8 days with a break in between for the weekend. As there is sometimes an overlap of programs, there may be instances where more time is required. We commit to letting our clients know in advance that this may be a possibility and will charge a per hour fee for additional hours to help minimize costs. Each program includes 6 hours of follow-up.

Do sessions with young children cost the same as adults?

Yes.

Can I do half a program, take some time off, and then pick up where I left off later?

Programs tend to be the most successful when they are run altogether without a break; however, sometimes it is beneficial to let the concepts sink in, particularly when a client is young. If that were the case, this is likely something we would discuss in advance based on the client’s learning needs and abilities so there are no surprises.

What does a discovery call include?

We would have an initial conversation together about your needs, and then set up a time to meet in person, by phone or online via video conference to determine the fit of a program for you.

How do I tell which program is right for me?

Generally our clients have an idea if they have reading, attention or math challenges. There is no need for a professional diagnosis, although it can be helpful. Contact us and we can discuss what programs we think would be beneficial when we meet for the discovery call. Feel free to check out the screening questionnaires on our Program Structure page.

Can I sit in on sessions with my child?

Part of the reason for having an initial discovery call is for a client to become comfortable with us. That way, by the time we meet for a program, they feel relaxed enough to with us be able to meet one-on-one. Parents are welcome to join the initial assessment, but we generally find that children are more successful when they go through the program alone with the facilitator.

Parents are welcome to stay in the waiting area if they prefer.

Is it harder to learn as an adult? Am I too old to benefit from this course?

Our programs are beneficial for anyone age 5 to 100. As with any learning, it takes time to digest and apply what you have learned. Motivation will be the key to your success.

If I have multiple children with learning challenges, can I combine sessions?

Each program is designed to be one-to-one and are individualized. However, we can do programs consecutively and offer a family discount.

How can I be sure that this program is for us?

Ron Davis, founder of the Davis Approach®, has written several books which we recommend, including The Gift of Learning and The Gift of Dyslexia. Davis facilitators are specially trained to implement these programs. Ron Davis applies the proven techniques outlined in these books to the four most common learning challenges beyond dyslexia:

  • Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)

  • ADHD (the hyperactive variety)

  • Math deficiency (dyscalculia and acalculia)

  • Handwriting problems (dysgraphia and agraphia)

With his unique perspective on learning challenges, Ron Davis shows how, through a series of mental and physical exercises and learning tools, those experiencing these challenges can now learn how to correct them and embrace their gift, and even enjoy learning. How fast can I expect to see results?

Progress is dependent on many factors including motivation and your stage of life. When you are younger you will likely have learned less negative compensating solutions that need to be overcome, so results will likely be seen faster. During the program we will provide tools that will need to be applied to every day life. Your motivation will be the key to your success in overcoming old solutions and will determine how fast you will see results. Over the next few weeks and months of implementing the principles, success will become second nature.
